How do I find and add applicant details for an application?
When you apply for an intellectual property right, either in your own right or on behalf of someone else, you must specify the applicant details on the application form.
Depending on your circumstances you will fall into one of the following two categories below with associated steps:
1. I am/My organisation is the applicant.
Select In my own right in the Contact section of the application form.
Result: Your details are added as the applicant and contact.
2. I’m an agent filing on behalf of someone else.
1. Select As an agent in the Contact section of the application form.
Result: Your details or your organisation details will be added as the agent and contact.
2. To find or add applicant details:
a. EITHER Search for a client:
i) Click Search in the Applicant section of the application form.
Result: The Search Client screen will display.
ii) Enter your search criteria to find your client. The Already Acting on Behalf check box is ticked as a default and limits your search to clients you are already acting on behalf of. Deselecting this option will expand your search to all client records. Select Search.
Result: Records matching your criteria will display.
iii) To choose an applicant from your results, tick the checkbox next to the applicant record(s). Then click Select at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Result: The applicant(s) details display in the online application form.
b. OR Add to create a new client:
i) Select Add to create a new client record. Note – only create a new client record if one does not already exist.
Result: The Maintain Client screen will display.
ii) Complete the details for your new client and select Submit.
Result: The client details will display as the applicant on the application form.
