Enhancements to IPONZ’s Case Management Facility

Enhancements to IPONZ’s case management facility effective today are as follows:

Improvement to text search performance 

Enhancements have been made to improve the speed of searches, particularly where search criteria include text fields with phrases in quotation marks.

The following online searching guides have been updated to clarify the behaviour of text searches following these enhancements:

• Patents online searching guide
• Trade marks online searching guide
• PVR online searching guide

Changes to text field searches include:

• Punctuation within a word or phrase is treated the same way as a space
• There is no need to specify AND NOT when excluding a search term, simply use NOT
• Validation has been placed on the location of AND/OR/NOT operators to ensure that searches are not ambiguous and operators are used correctly
