In partnership with the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand, the James Dyson Foundation is once again looking to put New Zealand's best emerging product designers in the limelight.

The competition is open to final year tertiary design, technology and engineering students, and recent graduates in their first five years in the workforce.

Entries close on 2 August 2012 and are filed online at: www.jamesdysonaward.org.

The New Zealand competition winner:

  • receives a trip to the UK including flights, accommodation and NZD$3,000 spending money
  • visits Dyson’s Malmesbury-based headquarters and tours the Research & Development Centre.
  • receives NZ$3,000 worth of legal advice from Auckland firm, Farry & Co Law
  • receives an official fee prize package from IPONZ tailored to the winner’s immediate intellectual property needs
  • joins the D&AD Getty talentpool – an online international showcase of design talent, and
  • receives a 12 month membership to the Designers Institute of New Zealand.

New Zealand competition finalists will be invited to attend an IPONZ IP workshop in Auckland.

All entries will be in the running for the International James Dyson Award. The International winner receives GBP£10,000 in prize money, a trophy, and an opportunity to visit Dyson’s engineering facilities in either the UK or Malaysia. The James Dyson Foundation also gives GBP£10,000 to the International winner’s current or former University department.
