During the closed day - Friday 7th December 2012

The Patent Office (IPONZ) is declared closed on Friday 7 December 2012 so we can have time to complete final preparations to release our new online case management facility for Patents, Plant Variety Rights and International Trade Marks on the following Monday 10 December 2012.


The following online services will not be available during the closed day:

  • Searching for trade marks, designs and patents
  • Searching the Online Journal
  • Requests for public information
  • Applications for Search and Preliminary Advice, trade marks, designs and patents
  • Submitting correspondence for trade mark, design and patent applications
  • Renewal of trade mark, design and patent rights


You will still be able to use the following services on the IPONZ website during the closed day:

  • Read IPONZ website articles and content
  • Search IPONZ website content
  • Search for Plant Variety Rights

No filings will be accepted by any means during the Office closed day. The Office will be open again for business on Monday 10 December.

If the deadline for filing an application or document falls on this closed day, then the application or document can be filed on the next day when IPONZ is open, and will be deemed to have been filed in time. Read the closed day notice.
