Enhancements to online patent applications
In response to client requests IPONZ has implemented the following changes to enhance the patents online filing service:
1. A new option for the statement of applicant rights
IPONZ has added an additional statement of applicant rights option to the online application form. This new option, ‘Applicant’s entitlement to apply is not known at time of application’, can be selected when the applicant’s entitlement is not known at the time of filing. The Office will make an internal note that the applicant’s entitlement under section 7 of the Patents Act 1953 was not specified. Note - the applicant must supply this information before acceptance.

2. More details on the patent application online detail report
IPONZ has enhanced the patent application online detail report to display the Statement of applicant rights, the Request for Sealing and Declaration details.

3. Application status on the patent application online detail report
IPONZ has made it easier for you to confirm your application has been submitted. You can now see the application status as well as the date of submission at the top of the online detail report.
