Get ready for IPONZ's new case management system
2 February 2012
The new case management system for trade marks and designs is due for release on Monday 13th February 2012. Here are some important points you need to know so you’re ready.
What will happen before the change?
All online services will be shut down from 7pm Thursday 9 February 2012 to the morning of Monday 13 February 2012
The Patent Office is declared closed on Friday 10 February 2012. If the deadline for filing an application or document falls on the closed day, then the application or document can be filed on the next day when IPONZ is open, and will be deemed to have been filed in time. Read the closed day notice for more information.
What do you need to do?
You must submit all trade mark and design applications before 5.00 pm Thursday 9 February 2012. Applications that have not been submitted will not be transferred. If you have saved applications that you do not submit by this time, you will need to re-enter the information in the new system.
Existing IPONZ trade mark and design users:
- If your account administrator and users completed the pre-registration process you don’t need to do anything. Users will be able to login to the new system with their new login details. .
- If you missed the pre-registration window you will still be able to register with us in the new system. On 13 February 2012, we will send your account administrator an email detailing the process. Once your administrator registers, an email will be issued to other users within the organisation to activate their accounts.
If you’re new to IPONZ you will be able to register to become a new user after 13 February 2012.
How does this affect Patents?
As noted, the Patent Office is declared closed on Friday 10 February 2012.
The patent online services will not be available from 7pm Thursday 9 February 2012 to the morning of Monday 13 February 2012.
No other changes affect patents, including your existing User ID for online services. You will need to continue using your user-id for patent online services until the patent implementation is rolled out. We will communicate when changes will happen in due course.
