Guide to registering for trade mark and design online services

The IPONZ case management system for trade marks and designs gives you access to a full suite of online services that makes managing your intellectual property (IP) quick and easy.
What can you do?
- Apply. Make an application and view the progress of your case from your personal electronic inbox.
- Manage. Send and receive correspondence electronically, keep your contact details up to date and view your proceeding cases online.
- Renew. Keep your trade mark or design protected by renewing.
- Check. Create a subscription to receive notifications of changes about specific cases, or applications in particular classes and specification.
You need to be a registered user to access most of the services. There are no joining or maintenance fees.
How do I register?
There are two steps to become a registered user:
- Step 1: Log on with igovt
- Step 2: Create an IPONZ account. To do this, you will need to tell us who you are by selecting one of the following:
| Option 1 | I have received an email that contains an activation code from my organisation who is an existing user of IPONZ. |
| Option 2 | I am going to apply to register a Trade Mark and/or Design right for the first time on my own behalf. |
| Option 3 | I am going to apply to register a Trade Mark and/or Design right for the first time on behalf of an organisation. |
| Option 4 | My organisation or I already own Trade Mark and/or Design rights but currently we do not have access to IPONZ Online Service. |
