James Dyson Award - International product design competition

In partnership with the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand, the James Dyson Foundation is once again looking to put New Zealand's best emerging product designers in the limelight.
The James Dyson Award is open to university design, technology and engineering students and recent graduates in their first four years in the workforce. The brief is to design a product that solves a problem. A working prototype and video report is not compulsory but will add value to your application. Entries must be filed online before Thursday 1 July 2010 at www.jamesdysonaward.org.
New Zealand’s 2010 James Dyson Award national winner:
- receives a trip to the UK, including flights, accommodation and NZ$3,000 travel expenses
- gets to visit Dyson’s Malmesbury-based headquarters in the UK and tour the Dyson Research and Development Centre
- receives an official fee IPONZ prize package tailored to the winner’s immediate intellectual property needs
- gains NZ$3,000 worth of legal or business advice from Farry.Co Law
- joins the D&AD Getty online talent pool and gains exposure in the media and design community
- secures a year's membership to the Designers' Institute of New Zealand
IPONZ also holds an IP workshop with the New Zealand finalists in Auckland on the day of the National Award ceremony.
All entries will be in the running for the International James Dyson Award. The International winner receives GBP£10,000 in prize money, a trophy, and an opportunity to visit Dyson’s engineering facilities in either the UK or Malaysia. The James Dyson Foundation also gives GBP£10,000 to the International winner’s current or former University department.
