Madrid Protocol and Singapore Treaty

On September 10, 2012 New Zealand deposited the Instrument of Accession to the Madrid Protocol and the Ratification of the Singapore Treaty with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The Madrid Protocol and the Singapore Treaty will enter into force in New Zealand on 10 December 2012.
Through the Madrid Protocol from 10 December 2012, New Zealand businesses will have a cost effective and efficient mechanism for applying for and maintaining trade marks in international markets. It also makes doing business in New Zealand easier for overseas companies who file trade marks in multiple jurisdictions.
