Improvements to the IPONZ online case management facility

Improvements to the IPONZ online case management facility as of 1 August 2018.

We’ve made a significant update to the way our online case management facility processes online payments as of 1 August 2018.

Updated Payment and Search Fee Pages

IPONZ has updated our online payment system as part of a project that will provide a single consistent payment platform across all MBIE services in the coming years.

The updated payment system will continue to record the same payment information, and invoices will present the same information in a new format. Credit Card and Internet Banking payments will continue to use secure payment gateways to safeguard transactions, and any existing Direct Debit setups with IPONZ will be retained.

The Search Fees page that allows you to search your payment transaction history on the IPONZ online case management facility has also been reorganised to allow for better searching of previous payments. Any existing payment transaction data will be migrated to the new system.

Users are able to search “My Transactions” for invoices or credit notes, or search “Un-invoiced Fees” for charges that are yet to be collated on a direct debit payment.

The “Entity Number” field in this page corresponds with your case number. This will use prefixes that correspond to the case type involved. (A trade mark application payment for case 000000, for example, would now be searchable under entity number “TM000000”.)

  • TM: Trade Mark application
  • SP: Search and Preliminary Advice application
  • PT: Patent application
  • DS: Design application
  • PV: Plant Variety Right application
  • PR: Proceeding case
  • GR: General Request

The new payment system is expected to improve the quality of payment transactions between IPONZ and its users.
