Patents Amendment Bill call for submissions

The Patents Amendment Bill is being considered by the Economic Development, Science and Innovation Committee. Public submissions on the Bill close Thursday, 4 September 2025.

The Patents Amendment Bill amends the Patents Act 2013 to apply stricter criteria for grant of divisional applications filed under the Patents Act 1953. It was introduced to Parliament on 22 May 2025, and had its first reading on 17 July 2025. It is now being considered by the Economic Development, Science and Innovation Committee.

The Committee has invited public submissions on the Bill with a closing date of Thursday, 4 September 2025.
