We’ve updated our practice guidelines about amendments to trade mark applications.
Our updated guidelines clarify that you:
- may correct the applicant’s name or address after your application’s filing date
- can make other corrections to your application after its filing date, but only if these don’t materially alter the meaning or scope of your application.
It’s important to check your application details carefully on the day you file. If you see any errors, you should request any changes immediately. If you do this through our case management system on the same day as your filing date, your changes will go through automatically.
If you find a mistake in your application after its filing date, and fixing it would materially alter the application, your best option is to file a new application with the correct information as soon as possible.
