Following regular reviews and consultation with our Patents Technical Focus Group, we have updated existing sections of our Patents Examination Manual as follows.
Section 39: Contents of complete specification
We have recently updated this section to remove ambiguous content relating to “reach through” claims.
Section 67: Applicants must act by deadline if deadline set by Commissioner
We have updated this section to clarify our practices in relation to non-substantive responses to examination reports. In general, examination reports that are issued in reply to non-substantive responses should expect to have shorter deadlines than those issued in reply to substantive responses.
